A historical monument certainly evokes dreams... While the building is undeniably beautiful from the outside, the interior is far from practical (especially for larger groups). Both the design and the decor are truly subpar. Although recently restored, this gîte is also poorly insulated and best avoided during periods of intense heat... the myth of old stones keeping you cool is seriously undermined here.

While admittedly well-equipped, this accommodation is anything but prestigious, and the focus on profitability has led to a series of questionable choices. For example, the seemingly most appealing bedroom, located in the tower, with its four-poster bed and medieval ambiance, has been fitted with a second bed. A newlywed couple might thus have the pleasure of spending their wedding night with some of their in-laws and, what's more—unless they happen to be traveling with their chamber pots—will have to descend the charming stone staircase in the tower to reach the toilet, passing through another room ("the Guards' Lodge"). If the cottage was rented for 15 people (the advertised capacity being "ideal"), then he might want to say hello to another part of the family...

And what about the owner, who is nothing short of a pain and remarkably inflexible? He's the type to lock you out of the main gate and deny you access, as punishment for supposedly leaving it open (he refuses to believe it's vulnerable to the wind despite its old latch...). He'll be furious if you forget (the height of infamy) to turn off the outside light.

And he might even try to hold you responsible for construction defects with Gîtes de France after the check-out inspection...

If you're unfamiliar with the Charente region and eager to explore it, if you love its historical heritage but also desire comfort, if you crave peace and quiet, and want to find numerous places to visit without long drives, then Logis de Sigogne is exactly what you're looking for. A 14th-century medieval keep connected to a 17th-century dwelling, both meticulously restored and recently converted into charming holiday rentals, the four-star rating awarded by Gîtes de France is more than justified.

A magnificent lodge, beautifully presented and tastefully restored, in a peaceful and relaxing natural setting. Perhaps you'll discover magical little spots where the architecture whispers tales of the past, where the dim light and coolness of the vaulted cellar offer glimpses of dozing bats? Or perhaps you'll experience the thrill of exploring the medieval well?
A charming and multifaceted guesthouse that is sure to captivate you!
