Medieval well

At the heart of the Logis lies one of its most remarkable yet unassuming features: its medieval well. A remarkable survivor from the early days of the estate, its ingenious design provides an insight into how the Logis was organised.

A medieval well, which leads to underground passages

Hewn directly from the limestone, it reaches a depth of around 37 metres. But the well reveals another remarkable feature. About halfway down, a narrow natural passage opens into a cave connected to the underground karst system. This unusual configuration offers a rare opportunity to go caving and explore the underground network.

Explore the natural caves with a qualified caver

The underground network can be explored, but access is subject to strict regulations. For safety reasons, all descents and visits must be carried out under the supervision of professional cavers who have their own public liability insurance. With specialist supervision and the appropriate equipment, visitors can explore the site safely.
